“After my wife died, I was depressed and in danger of becoming a recluse. Simon and Janette were sympathetic and helpful with my photography and fragile mental state. The group has given me confidence in facing life without my wife.”
Keith, Walking Photography

“I used to play for the five-a-side fire brigade women’s football team, but I can’t run around anymore. This has been absolutely fantastic. You get games, coaching and encouragement. It’s really good fun and you always come away learning something.”
Carmen, The WFA North East Walking Football Team

“I came in to walking football because of my mental health. A lot of people that I’ve met have have issues, but the camaradarie of walking football brings everyone together. We meet different teams and we are all competetive in this league, but at the end we all shake hands. It’s well organised with great refs ”
Kevin, The Northern Walking Football League

“I was sick of sitting at my desk all day getting out of shape. I wanted to do something low impact and fun. I was very welcomed as soon as I came here, made to feel part of the family. It’s something I look forward to more than anything every week. It’s nice to get out of the house and have that camaradarie, team spirit and feel fitter. There are no negatives to it, I would highly recommend it to anybody. ”
Dan, Stokesley Walking Football Club

“I thought football was beyond me, I stopped playing many years ago. I enjoy coming to Janette’s sessions, we take football back to its basics and we slowly learn the skills to play walking football. Its good to be around other people with Parkinson’s, Ive found football has returned to me. ”
Richard, Parkinson’s and Neurological Walking Football

“For me it’s about mental health. I’m a veteran and my life is so busy in my world and my work. It’s good to just travel down and play football, it’s my outlet.”
